The Donnie Creek wildfire, part of the Donnie Creek Complex, only received about six millimetres of rain, despite rainfall diminishing wildfire behaviour in the South Peace Complex, according to BC Wildfire Service (BCWS).
Tumbler Ridge residents who chose to evacuate to Alberta were surprised to learn they wouldn’t be receiving any emergency support services (ESS) outside of B.C.
The rain in the Tumbler Ridge area is expected to diminish wildfire behaviour in the South Peace Complex for at least a few days, according to BC Wildfire Service (BCWS).
The Donnie Creek wildfire is approximately 487,509 hectares and is about two kilometres from the Alaska Highway, according to BC Wildfire Services (BCWS).
More crews are being deployed to the South Peace Complex, comprising the West Kiskatinaw River and Peavine Creek fires, as the wildfires continue to grow.
A local pharmacist says he is excited to now be able to prescribe medications for residents, especially with how hard it is to see a doctor in the Peace region.
