Fort St. John Business Façade Improvement Program now open for applications

The City of Fort St. John says its Business Façade Improvement Program is now available for applications for buildings in the downtown area.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Fort St. John businesses can now apply for renovation grants to improve the look of the buildings in the downtown area. 

The City of Fort St. John announced on April 15th that its Business Façade Improvement Program is now accepting applications for 2025. 

“We are committed to supporting our local businesses,” said Mayor Lilia Hansen.

Over the past several years, numerous façade improvement projects have transformed our commercial spaces.”

The grant covers façade upgrades, siding replacement, lighting, awnings or architectural features. 

Businesses in development permit areas can apply for a one-time grant covering half of the renovation costs up to $5,000.

If a business is located on a corner lot, the business can apply for the grant on each side facing the street for a total of $10,000. 

According to the city, the program is funded by the mayor’s standing committee on community economic development and Northern Development Initiative Trust (NDIT).

“With continued support from the NDIT, we’re proud to help shape a more beautiful and welcoming community,” said Hansen. 

Applications must be submitted by May 15th.
