FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Workers in and around regulated refrigeration facilities will have the opportunity to complete a Refrigeration Safety Awareness course in Fort St. John.

Hosted on March 7th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Pomeroy Sport Centre, the course is being delivered by the Recreation Facilities Association of B.C. (RFABC), an approved course provider through Technical Safety BC.

According to event organizers, the course is designed for workers who need safety training to apply to write the provincial Refrigeration Safety Awareness (RSA) exam.

The course covers how to safely monitor a refrigeration plant of up to 1,000 kilowatts under supervision or risk-assessed status.

The RFABC says participants will learn about refrigeration safety rules, system basics, safety equipment and emergency procedures.

The City of Fort St. John promoted the course in a February 26th Facebook post, noting those who “just want a refresher on plant safety” can also attend.
