Fort St. John Flyers in need of volunteers
The Fort St. John Flyers are in need of volunteers to assist in home games for the upcoming season.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Flyers are in need of volunteers to assist in home games for the upcoming season.
In a social media post, the Flyers announced the call for reliable individuals, community groups and sports groups who would be interested in helping for two to three hours on game nights at the North Peace Arena.
Ideally, around five volunteers are needed for the roles of merchandising and program tables, 50-50 sales, ticket takers, trainer(s) and a penalty box attendant.

Community and sports groups that would be interested in assisting are also encouraged to apply.
Honorariums will also be provided for volunteers.
Flyers President, Paul van Nostrand, said there are many benefits to attending every home game, including the feeling of being a part of a legendary institution.
“We’re a legendary organization that started in 1958. There’s a lot of history of being a Flyer and being involved with the team,” said van Nostrand.

“I think anytime people volunteer, they feel good about themselves. That’s probably the best perk in my opinion.”
For decades, the Flyers have been part of Fort St. John sporting history, winning a plethora of titles.
“Many of the best sporting moments in Fort St. John’s history can be associated with the Flyers, such as the Allan Cup of 2010, numerous All Peace Hockey League Championships, North Peace Hockey League Championships and provincial championships,” said van Nostrand.
“Many of those took place on home ice and to thrilled crowds.”
