FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The changing weather from winter to summer means the scent of chili will take over Fort St. John’s Festival Plaza in late June.

The 2026 Chili Bowl Bash, sponsored by the North Peace Potter’s Guild, will take over the venue on Saturday, June 20th.

Funds raised during the event will benefit the Guild, the organization in the back end of the Arts Post building on 10320 94th Avenue.

According to planning committee member Jessica Harrison, the event began in the mid-2000’s.

“We have been doing it for quite a few years now,” Harrison told Energeticcity.ca. “We are a member-operated studio, so the members who have [a] membership actually work day to day to keep our studio open and teach the classes.”

“This is our main fundraiser every year to basically pay our bills and keep our studio open.”

An intimate, family-friendly event, potters at the guild will create bowls for attendees to sample up to eight entrants. Only 100 tickets will be available at $40 each.

The bowls’ entrant sample chili can be kept as keepsakes they can take home, according to Harrison.

There will be a piñata for kids, as well as live music and dessert included in the event. Harrison said entrants can get somewhat competitive.

“Every year, we have a core group of people who just love cooking in this event,” said Harrison. “We also have a group of people who are new to the event and just want the challenge. It’s really fun.”

After the tasting, the winner will be determined by those in attendance through voting.

Tickets for the 2026 Chili Bowl Bash go on sale on Saturday, May 2nd from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and are available by cash only at the Arts Post Building on 10320 94th Avenue in Fort St. John.

The 2026 Chili Bowl Bash takes place on Saturday, June 20th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Festival Plaza, located in Centennial Park in Fort St. John.
