According to Brenda Baumeister, co-founder of the Fort St. John Cancer Support Circle Society, this is the first year the society is doing the fundraiser.
“Totem Mall has wonderfully chosen us as their next charity,” said Baumeister. “They’ve used the [Fort St. John] Hospital Foundation before, and now it’s us, and we will be doing it every year.”
Baumeister said Totem Mall has purchased all of the flowers for the event, which means 100 per cent of the money from the fundraiser will go to the society.

She also said the fundraiser will give the society an opportunity to showcase some of its services.
“It definitely is going to open a lot of possibilities for us,” Baumeister said. “It shows the community when they come to purchase the flowers, what we have to offer, and that we are here. We do a lot of emotional support, we do group sessions, we have one-on-one visits, we help out with wigs as well.”
Baumeister said those who purchase flowers will be supporting something important to the community.
“It’s a great chance to buy flowers for their moms or any person they feel actually needs flowers,” she said. “It allows them to feel like they’ve contributed to something that is very important in their community.”Â
According to Baumeister, the society hopes to raise $1,000 during the fundraiser.
