Hudson’s Hope issues water shutoffs continue amid leak investigation
Hudson’s Hope has issued a water access shut-off notice for select properties on Wednesday April 29th, as it continues to investigate a leak in the town’s water system.

HUDSON’S HOPE, B.C. — The District of Hudson’s Hope is continuing to shut off water as it investigates a leak in the town’s system.
According to a district release, select properties will have their water access shut off throughout the day on Wednesday, April 29th.
The district previously said it is investigating a ‘significant’ leak in the town’s water system, which is causing the district to lose 25 per cent of its treated water each day.

The shutdowns will allow staff to isolate sections of the system in order to narrow down where the leak is coming from.
Desiree Leblanc, director of public works and engineering, said the district is heavily relying on its water treatment plant to address water loss.
“We’re running our water treatment plant at close to its maximum capacity, so we’re just trying to keep our potable water reservoir full,” she said.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the following addresses will be without water:

As of April 28th at 1 p.m., the district issued a community-wide ‘boil water’ notice for all users of the water system.
The district said the boil notice is in effect until water sampling concludes the water is safe to drink, which is expected to be between May 8th to 15th, 2026.
According to the Government of Canada, a ‘boil water’ notice is a precautionary measure meant to inform consumers when they need to boil their water, as a way of protecting their health against potential disease-causing bacteria, viruses and parasites.
The district previously issued a water shutoff notice for select properties on Monday, April 27th.
