West Moberly First Nations seeks delegates for annual youth leadership conference
An Indigenous youth leadership event, West Moberly First Nations will attend with a delegation for the Gathering Our Voices 2026 event in Vancouver in March.

MOBERLY LAKE, B.C. — A northeast B.C. First Nation is urging the youth voices in its community to express interest in an annual Indigenous youth leadership event.
The Gathering Our Voices conference is an annual showcase seeking to “provide Indigenous youth with the tools to empower and inspire,” both in their communities and the world, according to the event’s website.
West Moberly First Nations (WMFN) issued a Facebook post on Tuesday, January 6th encouraging its members between the ages of 14 and 24 to submit letters of interest for their delegation.
Brittany Knott is the recreation coordinator for WMFN, and says candidates will benefit from the experience.
“It shows all our youth what amazing opportunities there are out there,” said Knott. “Not just in a small rural area, what they can see in the big cities.
“It’s just an amazing opportunity, and it’s something that is well deserved for the youth of our Nation.”
To enter, one must be a member of WMFN, and write a letter featuring their name and age; why they want to attend the event; what they hope to learn or gain from participating; and how it will benefit the participant and/or the community.

Knott said a committee will look over the letters after the deadline, and pick delegates based on which youth members have made “an impact” on the WMFN community.
“We are just looking for what they want to get out of going to an event like this,” said Knott. “One of our letters that we have received talks mostly about being Indigenous and seeing our Indigenous cultures and being a part of something that is so big.”
The deadline to submit letters will be Friday, February 6th, 2026.
Gathering Our Voices 2026 will take place from March 17th to March 20th in Vancouver.
Letters, questions or concerns can be forwarded to Knott at reccoord@westmo.org.
