FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Moose FM has earned national recognition, winning two major honours at the 2025 Canadian Radio Awards.

The Fort St. John-based radio station was the recipient of the Station of the Year (Small Market) and Best Podcast (Small Market) awards.

This year’s awards split stations into two categories: major/medium market (populations over 150,000) and small market (150,000 or under). That means Moose FM was up against nearly every radio station in Canada operating outside major metropolitan areas.

Moose FM’s program director Chris Walker says the wins reflect the station’s deep roots in the community.

“Winning Small Market Station of the Year is an incredible honour, and it really comes down to the dedication of our team and the support we get from this amazing community,” said Walker.

“Moose FM is powered by people who genuinely care about northern B.C.: our staff, our listeners, our partners and all the local groups we work with. We don’t do any of this for awards; we do it because local radio matters and because this community deserves a station that shows up every single day.”

According to Broadcast Dialogue, which presents the awards, the Station of the Year award recognizes overall excellence in personality, community involvement, creativity, marketing and local impact.

The Best Podcast award celebrates originality and strong storytelling in podcasting. Moose FM’s Before the Peace podcast received the award in both 2025 and 2024.

Before the Peace focuses on the history and experiences of Indigenous and Métis people across the Peace region.

Moose FM is owned by Moose Media, which is also the parent company of Energeticcity.ca.
