RCMP say no survivors in plane crash near Nanaimo, B.C.

NANAIMO — RCMP say no one has survived a plane crash on Vancouver Island near Nanaimo, B.C.

Mounties say in a news release that the crash was reported at around three this morning in the area near Twilight Way to the southwest of the city.

Police say a plane was found in a large debris field and there are no survivors, but no details on the type of aircraft or the number of occupants were released.

They say investigators are at the site of the crash.

The Transportation Safety Board says in an emailed statement that it is aware of the crash.

It says the federal agency is working with “all parties involved to gather information” but referred further comments to the RCMP.
