Dawson Creek and District Hospital photo contest winners announced

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Northern Health has selected 11 pictures from eight local photographers to decorate the walls of the new Dawson Creek and District Hospital.
The health authority has announced the winners of a contest held in the spring that saw photographers submit pictures of the Peace region to be used as wall graphics for the facility.
The chosen images depict landmarks like the Peace River, Bear Mountain Wind Park and Sikanni Chief Falls during a variety of seasons and times of day.

“These works capture the spirit of northern B.C.,” a Facebook post from Northern Health reads, “from the resilience of the Peace River to the magic of the northern lights and the quiet beauty of places like Muncho Lake and Dinosaur Lake.”
Each photograph will be used to decorate a different portion of the hospital, including various waiting lounges, viewing areas and the gift shop.
In addition to their pictures lining the walls of the new facility, the winning photographers were also awarded $1,800 per selected photo.
As of the latest major construction update, the exterior of the new Dawson Creek and District Hospital is set to be complete by this fall, with the facility as a whole on track to open next year.

The new facility will be over 50 per cent larger than the city’s current hospital, with 24 additional beds for patients, five new treatment spaces in its emergency department and more.
