TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. — Phone and internet service in Tumbler Ridge has been restored after a wildfire damaged fibre optic cables.
Phone, internet and cell phone services went down in the area on May 1st due to an array of wildfires damaging infrastructure.
That includes five smaller fires along Highway 52 southwest of Dawson Creek, which have now merged into one 185-hectare blaze.

On May 2nd, the District of Tumbler Ridge posted on Facebook to say all cellular and internet services appear to be fully restored.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding while the issue was being resolved,” the post read.
The Telus outage map also appears to show the problem has resolved.
This comes as the B.C. government is urging people to use caution as a combination of warm, dry conditions and strong winds are forecast to move over the southern part of the province, and the risk of wildfires increases.
