Wildfire located in area near Fort Nelson River

The fire discovered on June 16th is believed to have been caused by a lightning strike

A 0.25-hectare fire has been reported north east of Fort Nelson (BC Wildfire Service)

FORT NELSON, B.C. — The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) has released details about a new wildfire northeast of Fort Nelson.

According to BCWS’ website, the incident currently measures 0.25 hectares and is listed as ‘out of control,’ meaning it is expected to grow beyond its current perimeter.

It is located near the Fort Nelson River, in an area labelled the Sahtaneh River.  The fire’s suspected cause is believed to be a lightning strike.
