FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — LNG Canada has announced a “significant milestone” after the first liquefied natural gas shipment was delivered to its Kitimat facility.

In an April 2nd news release, LNG Canada said its carrier ship — the Maran Gas Roxana — safely delivered the shipment to the facility for equipment testing.

“This activity is critical to our safe start-up and commissioning process in advance of our operations, and to achieving our first LNG export cargoes by the middle of 2025,” said the release.

The Kitimat facility is located in the traditional territory of the Haisla Nation, which is in partnership with Cedar LNG and Pembina Corporation.

It will use current LNG infrastructure and access the Coastal GasLink pipeline, which runs from Dawson Creek to Kitimat.

In June 2024, Cedar LNG finalized an investment of $4 billion into the Kitimat LNG project.

In the release, the gas company thanked everybody involved in making the successful delivery happen, including HaiSea Marine personnel, British Columbia Coast Pilots, and Pacific Pilotage Authority Canada.

The company also had support from the Canadian Coast Guard and Canada Border Services Agency.

“Together, we’re making history,” the release concluded.
