Tumbler Ridge council releases 2023 Annual Report

The District of Tumbler Ridge released its 2023 annual report during its July 2nd council meeting.

TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. — The District of Tumbler Ridge released its 2023 annual report during its July 2nd council meeting.

The report outlines the district’s previous years’ achievements in finance, economic development, protective services, public works and operations, community services, and more. 

The report also outlines the district’s annual budget with permissive tax exemptions and financial statements.

Mayor Darryl Krakowka said in the report that 2023 was an eventful year for the district as needs were assessed following the West Kiskatinaw wildfire.

“Our community has continued to demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and a collective spirit that has once again proven its strength in the face of adversity, showcasing the spirit of unity and perseverance during the West Kiskatinaw Fire that forced the evacuation of Tumbler Ridge,” said Krakowka. 

Interim Chief Administrative Officer Aleen Torraville said in the report, that 2023 was an exciting year that presented opportunities for growth within the organization and the community.

“Throughout the year, the District completed a number of capital projects that focused on replacing key infrastructure in order to maintain the amazing quality of life we have all come to enjoy in our community,” said Torraville.

Tumbler Ridge generated total revenue of $18,232,141 and expenses totalling $15,240,425. The annual budget showed a surplus of $2,991,716
