FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The College of Veterinarians of British Columbia (CVBC) has held a discipline hearing for a Fort St. John veterinarian for misconduct.

According to the CVBC’s website, Dr. Justin Sewell faced a disciplinary hearing on June 8th, 2026, for professional misconduct, conduct unbecoming of a registrant and non-compliance with the bylaws.

This comes after the Parole Board of Canada granted Sewell a day parole on April 2nd, to a community residential facility (CRF) for a period of six months, but was denied a full parole.

Sewell pleaded guilty to charges of sexual assault, unlawfully recording intimate images and voyeurism in November 2022 and was sentenced last April to two years less a day of house arrest.

The house arrest sentence was later changed to a jail sentence by a BC Court of Appeal tribunal, which ruled on October 14th, 2025.

According to a notice posted by CVBC regarding Sewell on December 11th, 2025, the college said it completed an investigation under the Veterinarians Act and that the registrar issued a citation to Sewell.

The issuance of a citation initiated the discipline hearing process under the act.

The notice said that updates regarding this matter will be posted on the college’s website, and that discipline committee decisions will be posted there, subject to limited circumstances.
