BC Transit discontinues 2 FSJ bus routes for summer
BC Transit has cancelled two bus routes in Fort St. John until September due to expected changes in demand.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Two bus routes in Fort St. John have been cancelled for the summer months due to a “change in demand.”Â
According to a June 15th press release, BC Transit and the City of Fort St. John will be discontinuing route 4 Southeast and route 5 Southwest for the summer months as of June 28th.Â
BC Transit’s rider’s guide indicates route 4 Southeast encompasses the Fort St. John Cultural Centre on the corner of 100th Street and 100th Avenue, the Fort St. John Medical Clinic on 100th Avenue, Robert Ogilvie Elementary School, Duncan Cran Elementary School, Matthew’s Park and Centennial Park.Â
Route 5 Southwest meanwhile runs past Ecole Central Elementary School, Bert Bowes Junior Secondary, North Peace Secondary, Toboggan Hill Park, Totem Mall, Centennial Park, the Fort St. John Medical Clinic and City Hall on 100th Street.Â
“This service change coincides with the end of the school year and reflects a change in demand for service on two routes,” the release stated.Â
BC Transit explained the trips on those routes will be added to route 2 Southside and route 3 Central-Prospect Park.Â
The two discontinued routes will return to service in September when students are back in school.
