North America Fire Rescue hosting training sessions in Chetwynd

Chetwynd, B.C. — Residents of Chetwynd will have the chance to attend a pair of wildfire training sessions in June.

According to a Facebook post from North America Fire Rescue on May 25th, it will be hosting two days of S-100 Wildfire training in Chetwynd on June 13th and 14th. 

Day one of the session will be classroom-based, followed by a second day of hands-on practical training.

The sessions will feature the new S-100 curriculum, which was developed by BC Wildfire Service and Thompson Rivers University, and will include the S-185 fire entrapment avoidance training, which was previously offered as a separate course. 

North America Fire Rescue said participants will receive enhanced wildfire safety knowledge and preparedness through a comprehensive training program. 

Wildfire training sessions were previously held by North America Fire Rescue on April 18th and 19th in Chetwynd. Two sessions are also scheduled for Fort St. John on May 30th and 31st.
