(UPDATE) BCWS reports wildfire near Tremblay

BC Wildfire Service has reported a wildfire between Chetwynd and Dawson Creek off Highway 97 which is currently “out of control.”

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) has reported a wildfire near Sin Lake just off Highway 97.

According to the BCWS wildfire map, a wildfire was discovered on May 6th near Road 265 and Highway 97 in Tremblay.

The fire is reported to be 2.1 hectares in size and was categorized as “out of control,” meaning it is spreading or anticipated to spread “beyond the current perimeter or control line.” In a later update, BCWS changed the category to “under control.”

BCWS stated the blaze is suspected to have been caused by human activity. There are no current area restrictions or evacuations issued.
