North Peace senior boys’ basketball drops games at provincial tournament

The North Peace Secondary School’s Grizzlies, seeded 16th, were in tough against the competition at the 4A B.C. provincial basketball championships in Langley.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The North Peace Secondary School (NPSS) senior boys’ basketball team tipped off their 4A provincial basketball championship journey in Langley.

In their second game on Thursday, March 5th, the 16th-seeded Grizzlies found themselves taking on ninth-ranked Panorama Ridge Secondary of North Saanich.

With the Vancouver Island-based school shooting well from the outside, the Grizzlies were no match for their opposition and fell by a score of 102-58.

The top scorer for NPSS was Joshua Matuod, who had 14 points. 

The Grizzlies opened their tournament by losing to Nanaimo’s Dover Bay Secondary School by a score of 112-41.

In the main draw of the tournament, Victoria’s Oak Bay Secondary High School will face Vancouver College and the Kelowna Secondary School will face Dover Bay in the semi-finals on Friday, March 6th.

NPSS will play on Friday, March 6th versus Surrey’s Holy Cross Regional High School.

The 4A provincial Boys’ basketball championship runs until March 7th at the Langley Events Centre.
