Fort St. John has been to every finals contested since 2018. In the 2025-26 NWJHL season, the Lumber Barons lost just three times all year, going undefeated against the entire east/west division in the process.

Huskies head coach Todd Alexander knows the Lumber Barons, NWJHL runners-up a year ago, will be ready when the finals begin.

“They finished first in the league,” said Alexander. “They have got the most points, so they’re the best team.

“We are going into this series as underdogs, and we will do the best that we can to defend the title.”

In game five of their east/west division finals, Huskies’ season goal leader Xavier Burgher scored his ninth playoff goal to give Fort St. John an early 1-0 lead.

After Navigators’ defenceman Jack Jones tied the matchup, MacCoy Willms scored his first of three consecutive goals, and the Huskies led 2-1 after two periods.

After Willms finished off his hat-trick with two goals in the final frame, Navigators’ Deklan Lafferty had a late goal in the third.

Team captain Grayden Alexander was involved in the Huskies’ four goals on Tuesday evening, with Grayden having a pair of assists on goals by both.

It was something their head coach pointed out in a conversation with Energeticcity.ca.

“They really stepped up in the playoffs for us,” said Todd. “They all had good regular seasons, and that’s what you need.”

Finals schedules have yet to be released by the NWJHL. More details about the Fort St. John Huskies are available on the team’s Facebook and Instagram pages or website.
