Fort St. John to host public meeting for new five-year budget

The City of Fort St. John is hosting a public meeting for residents on February 23rd to comment on the proposed five-year capital plan, 2026 operating and 2026 capital budgets.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The City of Fort St. John is continuing to work on its five-year financial plans by hosting a public meeting to gather feedback.

In a February 18th Facebook post, the City of Fort St. John announced it would host a public meeting for residents on February 23rd at 6 p.m. in the City Hall chambers to review and comment on the current budget documents.

The meeting is intended to “allow for public consultation” on the proposed budgets.

The budget was first presented to the City of Fort St. John Council on January 26th, where staff detailed both the $130.7 million operating budget and the $54.62 million capital budget.

Residents can also submit comments about the plans by 4:30 p.m. on February 20th in a variety of ways:

  • Mail or hand delivering a letter to City Hall to: ‘Attention: Bonnie McCue, corporate officer, 10631 100th Street, Fort St. John, B.C., V1J 3Z5’ 
  • By email: legislativeservices@fortstjohn.ca

Any written comments received before the deadline will be published in the meeting agenda and distributed to council members to consider alongside any in-person comments.

The city council will also be hosting a drop-in session at City Hall on February 23rd starting at 5 p.m. where residents can “view display panels and have a casual discussion with council and staff.”
