North Peace gymnasts shine at season-opening competition
Several North Peace Gymnastics Association (NPGA) gymnasts made it to the podium at the 2026 Gymnastics Rock the Rockies competition in Calgary.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Local gymnasts delivered a strong start to their season at the Gymnastics Rocks the Rockies competition.
The competition, hosted by Pegasus Gymnastics, took place from Thursday, January 22nd to Sunday, January 25th at the Calgary Telus Convention Centre and saw 30 athletes and four coaches from the North Peace Gymnastics Association (NPGA) travelling to Alberta.
“This is our first meet of the season and the athletes had an incredible start,” said NPGA executive director Chantelle Yates.

In the Xcel bronze division, NPGA gymnasts earned multiple podium finishes:
- Maelle Lagace captured first place on vault and uneven bars, finishing second overall.
- Ashlyn MacGillivray earned first on vault, second on uneven bars, first on floor and second overall.
- Kristina Brigden took first on vault and floor, third on beam and claimed first overall.
Several athletes also reached the podium in the Xcel silver division:
- Courtney Andres placed second on uneven bars.
- Addison Huth earned first on beam.
- Brielle MacDougall placed third on vault.
- Nora Ostero finished first on vault.
- Adrianna McKenzie placed third on beam.
- Lexi MacDougall earned third on beam.
- Kaley Moore finished first on uneven bars.

The NPGA continued its success in the Xcel gold division:
- Cordelia Millions won first place on vault.
- Sophia MacDougall placed third on vault, beam and floor, finishing third overall.
- Kadence Franklin earned first on vault and second on floor.
- Katya Neufeld finished second on vault and bars, and second overall.
- Natalia Carroll placed third on bars.
Xcel diamond athletes also delivered standout performances:
- Anika Carroll placed second on vault and beam, and first on floor.
- Katie Yates earned first on vault, bars and beam, second on floor and finished first overall.
In a post shared on the NPGA’s Facebook page following the competition, the association praised all athletes for their effort and commitment.
“We are so proud of every single athlete this weekend,” the post read.
“Your hard work, dedication and commitment showed in every routine. Whether you hit a personal best or set a strong baseline to build from, this meet was an awesome way to kick off the season.”
