FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The final month of the Strike Group North West Junior Hockey League (NWJHL) 2025-26 season will indeed be a grind for the Fort St. John Huskies.

The team released its updated schedule for January 2026 in a Facebook post on Tuesday, December 30th.

The 14 games in January include seven games within the first 12 days of 2026, with rescheduled dates with the Beaverlodge Blades, Fairview Flyers, North Peace Navigators and the Sexsmith Vipers on the itinerary.

These were games cancelled in December due to snowy weather conditions. A statement from the NWJHL’s president Peter Burletoff said the decision to postpone the games was “not taken lightly.”

“If weather conditions are not favourable for travel, the league will discuss options with the teams involved and make a decision,” wrote Burletoff in an e-mail. “Our member teams have ice booked, officials have been arranged and volunteers are in place. Due to rescheduling, a potential loss of gate revenue that all teams rely on and have budgeted for, is potentially lost.”

With nine home games, Huskies general manager Jeremy Clothier told Energeticcity.ca the dates proved advantageous when rescheduling.

“[We talked with other clubs] and the league to try and get the best fit for everything,” said Clothier in mid-December. “But it’s going to be tight. It’s going to be a bit of a grind.

“The nice thing is the [makeup games] are all here, so we won’t have to travel.”

The Huskies come out of the break to take on the Navigators on Friday, January 2nd on the road before playing the Flyers on Saturday, January 3rd at the North Peace Arena. Both games will begin at 8 p.m.

The first weekend will conclude on Sunday, January 4th against the Vipers with game time scheduled for 5 p.m.  at the North Peace Arena.
