FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The City of Fort St. John council is in the final stretch of approving its new 15-year Official Community Plan.

In a December 2nd Facebook post, the City of Fort St. John announced a public hearing for the city’s Official Community Plan (OCP) bylaw.

The city began working on the bylaw, which will shape the future of the city for the next 15 years, in mid-2024. The city’s current OCP was last updated in 2017.

Staff also collected feedback earlier in the year online from residents, appearing at community events throughout the city and presenting a draft to council in late October.

The hearing – taking place in the council chambers of City Hall at 10631 100th Street on December 8th at 6 p.m. – will provide an opportunity for members of the public to submit comments in person.

Any comments received in writing by 4:30 p.m. on December 5th will also be included in the agenda, and reviewed by council members during the hearing.

If approval is received from community residents, council will vote on the OCP following the public hearing on whether to give it final approval and adopt it.

Written comments can be hand delivered to City Hall, mailed to 10631 100th Street, Fort St. John B.C. V1J 3Z5 and addressed to Bonnie McCue, corporate officer, or emailed to legislativeservices@fortstjohn.ca.
