FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Residents have a few days left to submit their feedback on the latest draft of the City of Fort St. John’s next Official Community Plan (OCP).
An OCP is the highest-level guiding policy document for a community, and is updated at regular intervals. In Fort St. John, the OCP is updated every 15 years, with the current plan having been adopted in 2017.
The city began the process of updating its OCP in September 2024. In the time since then, the city has organized two surveys and 10 community engagement events.
The project timeline indicates the city is in the final stages of developing the new plan, with the latest draft submitted to council last week in line with a timeline laid out in August.
The city is collecting feedback on the draft OCP online until Monday, September 22nd. The feedback form can be accessed here.
For residents who want to share feedback in person, an engagement event is being held on Saturday, September 20th from 9 a.m. to noon at the Fort St. John Farmers’ Market on 100th Street.
Once the city has finished collecting input from residents, a final draft of the OCP will be prepared and presented to council in late October.
