TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. — Residents in Tumbler Ridge are being asked to restrict their water usage immediately due to the strain of ongoing fire suppression efforts in the region.

On June 8th, the District of Tumbler Ridge took to Facebook with a community update regarding water usage, a road closure and Emergency Support Services (ESS).

The district is requesting residents restrict their water usage, both indoors and outdoors, immediately by ceasing all non-essential uses of water in and around their homes – such as washing machines and dishwashers.

“Our water reservoirs are extremely low due to ongoing fire suppression efforts, and conservation is critical at this time,” the post explained.

The district also notified the community of a road closure due to an “active emergency scene” on Monkman Way between Valleyview Drive and Willow Drive.

The update also reminded residents displaced by the apartment fire on June 7th to register with ESS regardless of whether they require support finding temporary housing.
