As a precaution, the hospital initiated a temporary lockdown procedure while staff attended to the victims.

Responding officers arrived on the scene to discover the apartment complex engulfed in flames. Initial investigations indicate that the male suspect responsible for the shooting set the building ablaze before driving his vehicle into the fire. He was later found deceased inside the car.

“This appears to be an isolated incident, and police believe there is no ongoing risk to the public,” stated Staff Sergeant Kris Clark of the BC RCMP.
