FSJ Fire Fighters Association warns of scam calls impersonating members
Fort St. John residents are receiving scam calls from fraudsters claiming to be raising money for the Fort St. John Professional Fire Fighters Association.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — After a slew of other fraud incidents this month, Fort St. John residents are now receiving scam calls from people impersonating local firefighters.
The Fort St. John Professional Fire Fighters Association posted on Facebook March 27th that it had heard reports of residents receiving “unsolicited phone calls” from people claiming to be local firefighters.
Those ‘firefighters’ purportedly claimed to be raising money for charity over the phone.

“These phone calls are a scam, and we ask that people be wary of them,” the post reads.
This comes after a month that saw several scams targeting people in Fort St. John and the northeast as a whole, with fraudsters impersonating City of Fort St. John employees and Northern Health representatives.
The District of Hudson’s Hope also announced via social media this week residents in that community have been receiving scam texts similar to those of Fort St. John residents.
There, people have received text messages from scammers claiming to be with a “BC Parking Department” about outstanding parking fines.
