FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) board of directors has voted to send a letter to BC Assessment due to ongoing challenges with one of the tax assessment map tools.

According to the report submitted to the board of directors during the regional meeting on August 15th, the Service Boundary Web Map tool has not been able to properly estimate tax rates for areas of the Peace River Regional District since 2022.

These are important, as accuracy is essential when estimating new service functions for defined areas in the district.

Staff clarified that this is not the same map tool the PRRD uses for their website, but is instead consulted when considering new service areas.

PRRD currently does not use the service to feed internal maps, however it is used when the district is exploring future services.

The board of directors voted to send a letter to BC Assessment, requesting an immediate resolution to the challenges surrounding the service.
