BCLC pays out $59.5 million to northern B.C. lottery players in 2023

The BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) paid out $59.5 million to northern B.C. lottery players in 2023.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) paid out $59.5 million to northern B.C. lottery players in 2023.

This year, the BCLC sold over 101 million winning tickets to players at retail locations and on PlayNow.com, paying out more than $859 million in total prizes province-wide.

According to a release from the BCLC, northern B.C. lottery highlights include 9.4 million winning tickets redeemed, two grand prize-winning tickets redeemed for $500,000 or more, and one BC/49 jackpot ticket redeemed.

Local lotto players who were lucky in 2023 include Donald MacEwan, a Fort St. John man who won $500,000 on a Reel Cash Scratch & Win ticket in August.

In January, Moberly Lake’s Carrie Paquette won over $961,022 playing slots on PlayNow.com.

In 2022, the BCLC paid out $58.4 million to northern B.C. lottery players.
