The team is looking to fill the void left by Darrel Leahy’s retirement from coaching after the Flyers most recent Allan Cup appearance.

Team President Paul van Nostrand says the team is going to be more active in getting the message out that they need a coach for the 2013-2014 season.

“We’re just going to do a little more advertising. I put a post on Facebook and our website today, he says. “We have spoken to some perspective coaches, but there is no final decision made, so we’re still looking.”

There are a number of things that the team is looking for in a new bench boss, including someone who has been involved with senior hockey.

“Ideally, someone who has the work flexibility to be able to dedicate the time necessary for a practice or two and a game or two a week,” van Nostrand explains. “Someone with senior hockey playing experience would be great. It is a bit of a different world than minor hockey and junior hockey.”

The team is hoping to have a coach hired by October 1st, as it would like to get training camp going by the middle of the month.

As for a schedule for the upcoming season, there will be a league meeting on September 18, where all teams will submit scheduling requests. After the league has had a chance to review the requests, the teams will receive a draft, followed by an official schedule, by the beginning of October.
