‘Staffing challenges’ close Chetwynd ER for weekend
“Staffing challenges” have closed the Chetwynd Hospital ER from 7 a.m. July 25 to 8 p.m. July 26.

CHETWYND, B.C. — The emergency department of the Chetwynd Hospital has been temporarily closed for the weekend.
According to Northern Health’s emergency department status webpage, Chetwynd Hospital’s emergency room closed as of 7 a.m. on July 25, and will not reopen until 8 p.m. on July 26.
The health authority explained in a Facebook post the closure is due to “unexpected staffing challenges.”

During an ER closure, residents in need of life-threatening emergency medical care are encouraged to call 911 for transportation to the nearest available facility.
Those with non-urgent medical needs can call their primary care provider to schedule appointments. Those without a family doctor or nurse practitioner can contact the Northern Health Virtual Clinic daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. by calling 1-844-645-7811.
