(UPDATE) RCMP investigate shots fired report near C.M. Finch Elementary School
Fort St. John RCMP have taped off an area around C.M. Finch Elementary School in Fort St. John as part of a shots fired report investigation.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Fort St. John RCMP officers are investigating a report of shots fired in the area of 112th Ave. and 108th St. near C.M. Finch Elementary School.
Around 9 p.m. on July 22, RCMP officers were seen blocking streets near the elementary school and, when approached, advised individuals to leave the area.

According to a press release from the Fort St. John RCMP at 10:30 p.m. on July 22, the detachment received “a report of multiple shots fired” in the area of 112th Ave. and 108th St.
RCMP noted the file is in its “infancy,” but confirmed multiple shots were fired in the area and this is believed to be a “targeted incident.”
“Multiple Fort St John RCMP units are on scene canvassing the neighbourhood,” Constable Chad Neustaeter, Media Relations Officer for the Fort St John RCMP said.
“We are asking that if anyone has any doorbell cam or dashcam video of the area at the time or believe they saw anything suspicious that they contact the Fort St John RCMP.”

As of 10 p.m., RCMP have taped off 109th Ave. next to the elementary school, the intersection of 111th Ave. and 106th St., 113th Ave. between 106th St. and 108th St. and 108th St. from 113th Ave. and 111th Ave.
