TAYLOR, B.C. — The Taylor council has moved to extend operating hours for the Fort St. John Stock Car Club.

During the June 15th District of Taylor council meeting, the council waived the District of Taylor Noise Control Bylaw to permit the club to extend operating hours from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.

This will apply to the scheduled race days for the remainder of the 2026 season:

The club, in a letter addressed to the mayor and the council, noted that the council had previously approved the extended hours in 2019, but the annual renewal requirement was overlooked.

The letter also highlighted that race events attract participants and spectators from across the region, providing economic benefits to local businesses and amenities in Taylor.

The extension will provide flexibility to complete the race program, which, in the event of weather, track conditions, or safety incidents, can be delayed.

The letter reads: “We recognize that any public event can create some level of noise and activity.”

“However, our race schedule is limited to a small number of weekends each season, and we work diligently to be respectful of our neighbours and the surrounding community.”
