Hudson’s Hope ER closures this week ‘directly or indirectly’ linked to water system challenges

HUDSON’S HOPE, B.C. — The Hudson’s Hope Health Centre’s emergency department closure may be linked to the water challenges in the district. 

According to Northern Health’s Emergency Department Status page, the centre was closed until April 30th at 1 p.m. 

The centre was previously closed on April 28th after being open for a day, coming out of a two-week-long closure. 

In a written statement to Energeticcity.ca, Northern Health said: “Interruptions to emergency department services at Hudson’s Hope Health Centre so far this week have been either directly or indirectly related to the current water system challenges in the community.” 

“The emergency department is expected to resume services this afternoon.” 

This comes after the District of Hudson’s Hope started investigating a “significant leak” in the town’s water system and issued a shut-off notice to select properties. 

According to Northern Health, emergency department services will experience a staffing-related interruption on May 1st, with service expected to return to regular hours next week. 

The centre is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday to Friday during normal working hours. 

The health authority is urging residents who need emergency care outside normal working hours or on weekends to call 911 to connect with BC Emergency Health Services for transportation to the nearest available hospital.
