FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Below are the latest sentences handed down from the Fort St. John, Dawson Creek and Fort Nelson provincial courts between February 23rd and February 27th.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, February 23rd

Lance Alexis Davis (born 1991)

Reasonable grounds were satisfied for Davis for an incident on November 1st, 2025 in Halfway River. 

They were issued a zero recognizance after the allegation, where the accused is given conditions to follow, for a period of 12 months. 

Bryce Allan Giesbrecht (born 1991)

Reasonable grounds were satisfied for Giesbrecht for an incident on September 29th, 2024 in Fort St. John. 

They were issued a $500 recognizance after the allegation for a period of 12 months. If Giesbrecht fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, they must pay the $500.  

Fort Nelson Provincial Court sentencing, February 23rd

Peggy Susan Kotchea (born 1988) 

Kotchea was found guilty of driving while disqualified under other restrictions on October 1st, 2025 in Fort Nelson. 

They were handed a jail-time-served sentence, a probation order for one year and a driving prohibition for two years. 

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, February 24th

Gabriel John Avey (born 2007)

Avey was found guilty of assault on June 19th, 2025 in Dawson Creek. 

They were handed a conditional discharge, which means the record won’t show a conviction if a person meets the conditions the judge sets. They were also handed an 18-month probation order and a firearms prohibition for five years. 

Brandon Lee Badger (born 1993)

Badger was found guilty of the following: 

  • Flight from the police on August 20th, 2025 in Dawson Creek. 
  • Two counts of breaching a release order between October 16th to 20th, 2025 in Dawson Creek. 
  • Possession of stolen property worth over $5,000 on August 20th, 2025 in Dawson Creek. 

They were sentenced to jail time served and given a 12-month probation order. 

Tyler Matthew Breland (born 2003)

Breland was found guilty of breaching a release order and assault with a weapon on November 14th, 2023 in Dawson Creek. 

They were handed a jail sentence for 67 days for both the offences. 

Justin Dean Collins (1982) 

Collins was found guilty of possessing or using a stolen credit card on July 22nd, 2022 in Chetwynd and on June 7th, 2025 in Prince George. 

They were handed a jail-time-served sentence and a probation order for 12 months. 

Fort Nelson Provincial Court sentencing, February 25th

Steven Barrington Dennis (born 1983) 

Dennis was found guilty of breaching an undertaking on August 29th, 2025 in Fort Nelson. 

They were handed a suspended sentence, where the accused is given conditions to follow, and a one-year probation order 

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, February 26th

John Kirk Christian (1977)

Christian was found guilty of driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention on May 3rd, 2024. 

They were fined $1,500, handed a probation order for one year and were ordered to pay $225 as a victim surcharge, which goes towards helping the victims of a crime. 

Fort Nelson Provincial Court sentencing, February 26th

Cameron Keith Junior Brooks (born 1985)

Brooks was found guilty for an incident on July 13th, 2025 in Fort Nelson. 

They were issued a $500 recognizance after the allegation for a period of 12 months. If Brooks fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, they must pay the $500.
