Williston Lake Resort to host fundraiser for Tumbler Ridge
Proceeds from the buffet lunch, which is by donation, will benefit the Tumbler Ridge Parents Advisory Council.

HUDSON’S HOPE, B.C. — Residents and families in the region are invited to attend a lunch buffet to support the town of Tumbler Ridge in the wake of the mass shooting earlier this month.
Located 20 minutes outside of the district, the nearby Williston Lake Resort will offer a buffet lunch on Sunday, March 1st.
The resort is located directly on Williston Lake and described as “the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort,” according to its website.
With entrance by donation, proceeds from the event will benefit the Tumbler Ridge Parents Advisory Council.
The organizer of the event, Alix Boucher, is originally from France and came to Canada in 2023, obtaining a job as a chef at the resort after living in Manitoba for a time.
He said hearing the news on February 10th about the killings, in which 18-year-old Jesse Van Rootselaar killed eight people before turning the gun on herself, leaving dozens more injured, got his attention.
“We have seen [the news] online, and in a lot of media,” said Boucher. “We were seeing that a lot of people were acting to support the families in Tumbler Ridge.”

Shuttles from Hudson’s Hope to the resort are also available throughout the event.
“People can just pick up some food,” said Boucher. “I have made it so people can eat standing up by the bar, where they can talk with other people.”
The Williston Lake Resort Hudson’s Hope gathering and buffet will take place on Sunday, March 1st from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
