FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Fort St. John Senior Flyers had varied results during their final weekend of the regular season.

With one game remaining each at home and on the road, the team split the two games on Saturday, January 31st and Sunday, February 1st in North Peace Hockey League (NPHL) action.

The Flyers started out the two-game stretch at home versus the High Prairie Regals, a team who edged them 7-6 in a matchup earlier this season.

This time, however, Fort St. John took home the win by a score of 4-1 at the North Peace Arena on Saturday evening.

Jeremy Lagler had his first goal of the season for the Flyers, and reigning NPHL rookie of the year Aiden Craig-Steele had three assists. Other goal scorers included Jordan Harder, Nick Loewen and Nolan Lagace.

However, the team was unable to keep the momentum versus the Manning Comets in the team’s final regular-season game, dressing just 12 skaters for the matchup on February 1st.

The Flyers allowed 42 shots on the net and Manning had two-goal games from Colton Yellow Horn, Edge Lambert and Deklan Whillans. The Flyers lost by a score of 10-2.

Loewen had the only two goals for the Flyers. Goaltender Ty Gullickson did all he could for the Flyers, making 32 stops in the loss.

This means the Flyers finish the regular season with a record of five wins and 11 losses, good for 10 points and eighth spot in the nine-team NPHL, one behind the Regals who still have one game left to play.

More details about the Flyers are available on the team’s Facebook page.
