FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Fort St. John Huskies will open up the playoffs against a familiar foe.

Top seeds in the Caliber Energy East/West Division, the defending Strike Group North West Junior Hockey League (NWJHL) champions will take on the Fairview Flyers in the first round of the 2025-26 playoffs, according to a playoff announcement by the league.

The Flyers are at the bottom of the division again with a record of five wins, 31 losses and two overtime defeats for just 12 points, with the Huskies scoring an 11-0 rout of Fairview back in November.

However, closer analysis shows Fairview gave Fort St. John competitive games as the season went on. Four of the eight games between the teams were decided by one goal.

Huskies head coach Todd Alexander knows Fairview will be no walkover once the playoffs begin, describing the Flyers as a “much improved hockey club.”

“They have played us tough all year, especially when we have gone there,” said Alexander. “We are going to have to be pretty dialed-in and make sure that we get through that.

“We need to continue to tighten up our d-side of the puck. I think if we play good on that side, then we will be rewarded.”

Game three will be at the North Peace Arena on Tuesday, February 10th. Game four and five, if necessary, will be on Friday, February 13th and Saturday, February 14th.

Game time for all contests is scheduled for 8 p.m. For more details, check the Huskies’ Facebook or Instagram pages and website.
