Oil and gas worker launches not-for-profit free job board for trades industry

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — An oil and gas worker with ties to the Peace region has launched a new not-for-profit job board.

Tim Mason, a heavy equipment operator who has worked across B.C., recently launched CrewedUp, a free job board and networking site designed specifically for workers and employers in the oil and gas and trades sectors.

Mason told Energeticcity.ca the idea grew out of years of firsthand experience with inconsistent work, particularly in northern communities.

“Most people end up relying on Facebook groups, word of mouth or job boards that aren’t built for our industry,” Mason said. 

“I kept seeing guys struggle to find steady work, especially during slower seasons, and employers struggling to find reliable people.”

According to Mason, CrewedUp allows workers to build a profile showcasing their experience, share photos of their work and receive recommendations from others in the industry, while employers can post job openings and review worker profiles directly.

While CrewedUp is intended for workers and employers across Canada, Mason said the Peace region was specifically on his mind when developing the platform. 

Mason said he has worked extensively in and around Fort St. John and maintains connections with many former coworkers from the area.

“The Peace has a huge amount of skilled workers,” he said. 

“A lot of the guys I’ve worked with came from that region, and I’d love for CrewedUp to help them find steady work and help employers find good people faster.”

CrewedUp is currently operating as a not-for-profit project, with Mason hoping the platform can provide support to workers navigating gaps between jobs and employers looking to fill positions efficiently.
