The FSJ Pilot Participants would like to thank the members of the Fort St. John Pilot Project’s Public Advisory Group (PAG) for their valuable ongoing contributions in reviewing and commenting on the Participants’ forest management activities and their efforts towards Sustainable Forest Management (SFM). PAG’s contributions have been instrumental in the maintenance of SFM in the Pilot Project Area.
THERE ARE CURRENTLY OPPORTUNITIES TO JOIN THE PUBLIC ADVISORY GROUP
The Pilot Project Participants are certified for SFM and are registered to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI) Forest Management and Fiber Sourcing standards. An important component of the Pilot Project is public participation in the form of a PAG. The PAG features local members of the public who are interested in providing perspectives and guidance on local forest management practices and initiatives. The PAG includes one representative (R) and one alternate(A) for each interest group. Currently, there are vacancies for the following groups:
Commercial Recreation (R,A)
Environment/Conservation (A)
Forest Contractors/Workers (R,A)
Labour (R,A)
Oil & Gas Industry (R,A)
Non-Commercial Recreation – fishing, hunting (A)
Non-Commercial Recreation – non-consumptive (R,A)
Range (A)
Rural Communities (A)
Trapping (A)
Urban Communities (A)
Energy (A)
The PAG typically meets twice annually, and the Participants host an annual field trip for interested members. Membership is voluntary, and travel allowances are available for those members who must travel from out of town to attend meetings.
