Trick-or-treating traffic restrictions coming to Fort Nelson on Halloween

FORT NELSON, B.C. — Some restrictions for motorists will be in effect in the Northern Rockies during the late afternoon on Halloween.

Following a poll of the community regarding Halloween safety, the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality (NRRM) has announced a number of road restrictions that will be put in place to create a safe environment for the community’s young ghouls, ghosts and goblins as they trick-or-treat.

“We recognize that some residents may have physical or accessibility limitations, and exemptions are in effect for these individuals,” the Facebook announcement dated for Wednesday, October 22nd reads. 

“Our goal is to make the evening comfortable and inclusive for everyone. At the same time, we are confident that other areas of the community will be just as eager to welcome trick-or-treaters and help share in the fun.”

The restrictions will last from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 31st. The RL Angus and Minnaker subdivisions will be under the restrictions, as will Hallmark and Heritage Crescents.

While they’re in effect, those roads will only be accessible to local traffic and drivers with handicap placards.

“We truly appreciate everyone’s understanding and cooperation as we take this step to make Halloween a safe and memorable event for our neighbourhood,” the post reads.

A few recommended parking areas for motorists while trick-or-treaters are out and about have been designated by the NRRM in a map attached to the post.
