Tumbler Ridge shares properties listed for 2025 tax sale

TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. — The District of Tumbler Ridge is preparing to auction off properties that have delinquent taxes next week.

Details have been released for the district’s annual property tax sale. 

Under the Local Government Act, municipalities are required to auction properties with three years of delinquent taxes to residents annually.

Properties available in the tax sale are auctioned for their “upset price” — equal to all outstanding taxes, penalties, interest, fees for the provincial Land Title and Service Authority plus a five per cent fee for the tax sale itself.

Tumbler Ridge is the latest northeast B.C. community to announce the list of properties available in its 2025 tax sale, following the cities of Fort St. John and Dawson Creek, the District of Hudson’s Hope, Village of Pouce Coupe and Northern Rockies Regional Municipality.

Several properties on Tumbler Ridge’s list are tied for the lowest price of $356.89, while the most expensive — located at 113 Iles Way — has an upset price of $58,724.67.

Every property sold as part of a tax sale is sold as-is, with no guarantees or warranties from the municipality.

Residents can avoid having their properties sold by paying their overdue property taxes. The deadline varies between communities, and the District of Tumbler Ridge’s website does not list a deadline for this year’s sale.

Each community is having its tax sale on September 29th at 10 a.m. Tumbler Ridge’s is being held in the council chambers at the Tumbler Ridge Municipal Hall.
