Woman facing assault charges after reported stabbing to be arraigned

The person arrested following a reported stabbing in Fort St. John on August 28th, Kayla Trudeau, is scheduled to return to court in early October.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The person arrested following an alleged stabbing in Fort St. John that took place late last month will return to court in early October.

Kayla Trudeau was arrested on August 28th following a police investigation into a report of a non-fatal stabbing near the corner of 99th Avenue and 100th Street.

A man was taken to the hospital with what officers described as “non-life-threatening injuries.”

Trudeau was charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Trudeau was held in police custody pending the results of a bail hearing. 

That hearing, which was scheduled for September 5th, has since been adjourned with no new date set, according to Court Services Online (CSO).

The online service also indicates Trudeau appeared in a hearing to consult with counsel on Monday, September 8th. 

Following that, an arraignment hearing was scheduled for all three of her charges on Monday, October 6th.
