Spirit of the Peace Pow Wow postponed until 2027
The Spirit of the Peace Pow Wow’s board outlines “significant changes” to the board’s structure as the reasons behind the cancellation.

TAYLOR, B.C. — A celebrated cultural event each June, the Spirit of the Peace Pow Wow will be postponed for one year.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, May 7th, the board of the event outlines “significant changes to the structure of our board of directors,” as the reason behind the decision to cancel the 2026 event.
In March, longtime board president Connie Greyeyes said she would not continue, citing a desire for a much-needed break.
“As many people know, the Spirit of the Peace Pow Wow has undergone significant changes to the structure of our board of directors,” reads part of the post. “We remain grateful to the outgoing members for their valuable contributions to our community for nearly twenty years and wish them all the best in their future endeavours.”
“To ensure delivery of a successful event, the board has voted to postpone the pow wow for one year, to enable the new executives to familiarize themselves.”
Angela Milligan, the treasurer for the event, cited various factors, including renovations at the Taylor Ice Centre requiring a scaled-down, time sensitive event.
“This year, Taylor is doing renovations,” Milligan said. “We only had a tiny time slot that we could do the pow wow. With us being a whole new board, it just made it a little bit harder to get everything organized in time.”
