Blizzard Bicycle Club members impress at Dawson Creek Triathlon
Jay and Valerie Weber, both mainstays of the Fort St. John Blizzard Bicycle Club, took part in the Dawson Creek Triathlon on July 13th.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — A pair of cyclists halted full-time bicycle racing – momentarily – for the chance to attempt a different sport on the weekend.
Jay and Valerie Weber, both mainstays of the Blizzard Bicycle Club, honed their riding skills to participate in the Dawson Creek Triathlon on July 13th.
The event on Sunday featured five different disciplines, including a duathlon, a try-a-triathlon, a Kids of Steel triathlon and a family relay.

Both Webers competed in the sprint event, consisting of a 750-metre – or 30-length – swim at Kenn Borek Aquatic Centre, before a 20-kilometre ride to Pouce Coupe and then a five-kilometre run, ending back at the pool.
Each had successful results, with both placing in the top four of overall times, winning the men’s and women’s events respectively.
Jay made up ground after his swim by having the fastest time on the bike at 35 minutes and 50.1 seconds.
He took first overall in the race with a time of one hour, 18 minutes and 7.6 seconds.

Meanwhile, Valerie’s swimtime put her in the top five, keeping pace with the leaders. A biking time of 42 minutes and three seconds put her ahead, a lead she would not relinquish, with an overall finishing time of one hour, 29 minutes and 8.6 seconds.
Meanwhile, another Blizzard member, Kristine Bock, finished third in the women’s race and eighth overall in a time of one hour, 35 minutes and 39.4 seconds.
The Dawson Creek Triathlon was held on Sunday, July 13th.
