‘Staffing challenges’ close Chetwynd ER for second time this month
Chetwynd General Hospital emergency department closed for second time in June, for almost 12 hours.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Chetwynd General Hospital’s emergency department has reopened after a nearly 12-hour closure overnight.
Just before 8 p.m. on June 9th, Northern Health posted the notice of an emergency department closure at the Chetwynd General Hospital.
The closure ran from 7:30 p.m. on June 9th to 7 a.m. on June 10th, and was caused by “staffing challenges,” according to the health authority.
Residents in the area requiring life-threatening emergency care were advised to call 9-1-1 for transportation to the nearest available medical facility.
This is the second closure the hospital has suffered this month.
