Chetwynd General Hospital closes for entire weekend

The Chetwynd General Hospital emergency department will be closed for an entire weekend from June 7th to 9th.

CHETWYND, B.C. — Residents of Chetwynd will be without emergency medical services throughout the weekend due to “staffing challenges.”

Northern Health announced a 48-hour diversion of the Chetwynd General Hospital’s emergency department in a June 6th Facebook post, citing “staffing challenges” as the cause.

The diversion is set to start at 8 a.m. on June 7th and conclude at 8 a.m. on June 9th.

People in the Chetwynd area who need life-threatening emergency care are directed to call 911 for transport to the nearest emergency medical facility.

For non-urgent care needs, patients should call the NH Virtual Primary and Community Care Clinic on 1-844-645-7811.

This is the first closure this month of a Northern Health medical facility in northeast B.C.
