City council approves $3m construction for sidewalks and paving
Fort St. John council has approved tenders for $3.3 million on road and sidewalk repaving and replacements throughout 2025.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — City council has approved more than $3 million in construction tenders throughout Fort St. John.
During the May 26th regular council meeting, the City of Fort St. John council awarded two tenders for sidewalk replacement and repaving to Knappett Industries.
The two tenders come to a total of approximately $3.3 million, with around $868,000 allocated to sidewalk replacements and about $2.5 million for paving and reconstruction work.
Sidewalks are planned for removal and replacement on 93rd Avenue, 93rd Street, 100th Avenue and 112th Avenue, with a little over one kilometre, or 1,061 metres, of sidewalk to be replaced in 2025.
Repaving work is also being carried out on 89rd Avenue and 103rd Street in the Industrial Park from 107th Street to Cree Road. The parking lot for North Peace Search and Rescue on 100th Avenue will also be repaved as part of the tender.
In the May 28th episode of Council Corner, Councillor Jim Lequiere explained because Knappett’s tenders were under budget, the amount of work being done on both projects was being expanded.
Construction has already begun on sidewalk reconstruction, and will continue throughout the summer.
